At Accommodate Medical Staffing and Home Care, LLC, we are proud to assist our community by supporting clients who qualify for the Independent Care Waiver Program (ICWP).
The ICWP allows eligible Medicaid members with severe physical disabilities or traumatic brain injuries to receive care and services at home or in a community setting—instead of a nursing home or long-term care facility. This program is overseen by the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) under the Home and Community-Based Waiver (1915c) granted by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Who ICWP Serves
The ICWP is designed for adults ages 21–64 with severe physical disabilities who require nursing facility or hospital-level care but can be safely supported in their homes or communities.
Conditions Covered
- Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) – due to accidents, falls, or other trauma
- Stroke-related disabilities – when a stroke results in lasting physical impairments
- Other severe physical disabilities, including:
- Spinal cord injuries (paralysis, quadriplegia, paraplegia)
- Advanced Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
- Cerebral Palsy (CP) in adults
- Neuromuscular disorders (ALS, muscular dystrophy, etc.)
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be between 21–64 years old at enrollment
- Have a severe physical impairment or TBI that limits one or more daily living activities (e.g., bathing, grooming, dressing, eating)
- Require the assistance of another person to complete daily living activities
- Be medically stable, but at risk of long-term care placement
- Be able to live safely in a home or community setting
- Be capable of managing their own services (this requirement does not apply to individuals with TBI)
